CALLING ALL CANSAIL INSTRUCTORS

St. James Town Sailing Club (aka JTown) is a vibrant, co-operatively run, community club in Toronto’s Port Lands with over 200 members and a long history of excellence in both dinghy racing and sailing instruction. The club owns a (lending library) fleet of 18 Albacores, 7 Lasers, and 3 Catamarans.

JTown has no employees, and is looking for independent sailing instructors to join an existing team and work together to support our members’ learning journey. Apart from CanSail and Laser classes, all other work at the clubhouse is performed by volunteers.

Pay:

- Independent accredited sailing instructors bill the club for their time at an agreed upon rate (usually aligned with the Checklick survey results).

Extras:

JTown may offer some extras to supplement that rate such as:

- Instructors may be offered complimentary membership, and use of a shared locker ($650 annual value).

- We have powerboats available for instructor use, and due to our location instructors are required to have a PCOC and PVOP permit (ask us about fee coverage).

- Instructors are also welcome to negotiate coverage for skills upgrading as part of their overall agreement.

- As well, due to club culture/traditions, our instructors tend to get fed by members quite often, if not every day of work. That’s the vibe!

Schedule:

JTown offers these course formats, and instructors pick according to their own availability:

CanSail

● Weekends: 1 full weekend, followed by 8 alternating Saturdays/Sundays, 9am-4pm, April 28 - August.
